Brother Skip (Francis) Quinn
Skip (Francis) Quinn, 60 of Leominster, Mass. formerly of Concord and Shirley, Mass. passed away suddenly on February 7, 2019 at home. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary K. (McLoughlin); devoted father of Maire T. Whitney of Acton Mass. and husband Josue Morales; and Michael F. Quinn of Acton, Mass. Loving grandfather of Aidan S. Whitney and Samuel A. Morales. Son of the late Dorothy F. (O'Hara) Quinn and the late Francis L. Quinn. Brother of the late William F. Quinn; the late Catherine A. Quinn; the late Peter M. Quinn and his wife Marian of Waltham, VT; and Margaret (Meg) M. McLoughlin and her husband William of Abington, MA. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Skip grew up in Concord, MA and graduated from Austin Prep in Reading, MA in 1976. From there he went to the University of New Hampshire where he graduated with a major in Hotel and Restaurant Management. He worked in the restaurant business for a while after graduating and where his passion for cooking led him to open his own restaurant with his wife Mary called "Skip and Mary's" in Derry, NH.
After starting a family and leaving the restaurant business, Skip, his wife Mary and partner Dave Dearborn took over the Quinn family business in Concord running Protocol Communications which he later moved to Leominster, MA. After selling Protocol, Skip continued to be an entrepreneur investing in other businesses and finally starting his own landscaping and snowplow business in the greater Leominster area.
His family and particularly his two grandsons Aidan and Sam were an important part of his life with regular Monday night dinners together. He was a devoted supporter of the boys following all the activities they were involved in from Tae Kwon Do with Aidan to movies and golfing together. His long humorous face-time conversations with Sam was another way he kept in touch on a daily basis. Skip loved nothing more than the laughter and camaraderie of large family celebrations both here and in Scotland.
His passion for golf led him to join Oak Hill Country Club where he has been a member and board member for numerous years. Many of his friends at Oak Hill will dearly miss his smiling face, jokester personality and the way he included everyone in his circle of friends. Skip has played thousands of rounds of golf at the club along with his many travels to prestigious golf courses in the US and the UK.
Skip became a true friend to many as is evident in the many friends who have reached out to the family to offer condolences.
QUINN - A Celebration of Life was held at Oak Hill Country Club, 840 Oak Hill Rd., Fitchburg, MA 01420 on Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 1pm to 4pm.
