Brother Frederick W. Sayers Jr.

Fred W. Sayers, Jr., a man whose life was woven with love, adventure, and family, passed away peacefully at the age of 79 on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Maplewood Nursing Home. Born on October 17, 1945, in New Jersey, Fred was the cherished son of the late Fred W. Sayers, Sr., and Florence D. (Ebstyne) Sayers. A bright and determined spirit, he graduated from Hasbrouck High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in math and business from the University of New Hampshire, setting the stage for a remarkable career and life.

For nearly 40 years, Fred thrived as a sales manager at Pitney Bowes, retiring from their Colonie, NY location. His work took him and his family on a journey across various places, eventually landing them in Clifton Park, NY, where he savored his well-earned retirement. But it was the summers that truly lit up Fred’s world – every year, he and his family gathered at Twin Lake Villa on Little Lake Sunapee, NH. This charming old New England hotel was their haven, brimming with swimming, boating, tennis, golf, hiking, fishing and three delicious meals a day. Each August, Fred orchestrated unforgettable vacations there, creating traditions and memories that his family will hold dear forever.

Fred’s joys were simple yet full of heart. He loved casting a line with his fishing buddies, teeing off on the golf course, or swinging a racket on the tennis court. Above all, he treasured traveling with his wife, Vera, and soaking up time with his daughters and grandchildren – those moments were the heartbeat of his life.

Fred was the devoted husband of the late Vera (Gernert) Sayers, who walked beside him through life’s many chapters. He leaves behind his loving daughters and their families: Alyson (Barry) Thrash and their children, Cole, Quinn and Tucker, and Amy (Austin) McEnroe and their children, Collin, Gavin, and Braedin. To them, he was a rock, a storyteller, and a grandfather whose laughter echoed through every room.

All are warmly invited to celebrate Fred’s life during calling hours on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 4:00-6:00pm at Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, NY 12019.

A Funeral Service will conclude the evening at 6:00pm.

Interment will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 11:00am at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, NJ, where he’ll rest beside his beloved Vera.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 322 8th Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
